Engineer and Astronaut: Dr. Ellen Ochoa

Besides an engineer, Ellen Ochoa is an astronaut. Ellen Ochoa is Mexican American born in Los Angeles, CA. With grace and grit, she shattered stereotypes, proving that Latina women belong not just in space but in every sphere of human endeavor. Completing four space travel missions her journey starts as an engineer. Firstly she inaugurated to NASA as an engineer in 1988. Then she became an astronaut in the Johnson Space Center in 1990¹. Ellen’s journey reminds us that no dream is too big, no barrier too high to overcome. Evidently a trailblazer who soared beyond earthly limits as the first Latina astronaut.
